Sorted Life

I was sorting baseball cards the other day in my study. I don’t know what it is about sorting a big pile of cards that helps me relax. Well anyway, Shelly joins me in my study (smallest room in the house) and she brings in about six boxes of pictures taken over her and our life together and starts sorting. Soon we are sitting in side by side visiting about the pictures of our life. Shelly shows me a picture and says, “Do you remember this? “ Most of the time I do. I took one picture of Shelly sitting on my lap well over 30 years ago and put it where I could see it every day. We have changed some but we have stayed some the same.

I think I would like to sort out my life and I try. But over time, little by little the daily schedule has us throwing our life in a box for safe keeping and it is good to take some time, sort things out, remember passionate baseball debates on my grandpa’s porch, remember the joy on my children’s faces, all the crazy things we did and forgot and thank God for every one of them.

Thank God for the simple blessings that seem to get lost in the daily agenda and chores. I suggest to you find those memories.
